myodo Product Guide
Last Updated: 2026-04-01
Four products. One platform. The connected shop.
myodo is a vehicle service intelligence platform built by Piston Labs. Five products work together: a shop management system ($500/mo) that runs your business, a repair intelligence network that makes every shop smarter (also available standalone at $99/mo), integrated payment processing via Stripe Connect + Terminal, a digital glovebox that gives consumers ownership of their service records, and a fleet dashboard for businesses that run vehicles.
Shop Management System
The lead product. Full shop management competing with Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, and legacy incumbents.
What It Does
myodo SMS is the software a repair shop uses to run their business -- estimates, repair orders, scheduling, customer communication, parts, payments, and reporting. But unlike every other SMS on the market, myodo is built from scratch on a structured data model that captures diagnostic intelligence as a byproduct of normal operations.
What Makes It Different
Work Categories
Every job is categorized at the data model level: Inspection, Diagnosis, Repair, or Maintenance. The system infers the category automatically -- the tech doesn't pick it. Each category captures different data, produces different outputs, and feeds different analytics. Legacy systems treat everything as a flat list of line items.
The Three Cs Diagnostic Chain
Every diagnostic repair order follows the industry-standard Three Cs: Concern (what the customer reported), Cause (what the tech found), Correction (what was done to fix it). myodo adds a fourth step: Verification -- the tech confirms the fix resolved the original concern. This closes the diagnostic loop on every single repair, producing verified outcome data that no other platform captures.
Raw + Rendered (Two Layers of Truth)
Every piece of technician input exists in two forms. Raw is the tech's literal words -- dictation, typed notes, scan data, photos. Stored permanently as the legal record. Rendered is an AI-synthesized narrative -- clean, grammatically correct, consistent tone. This is what the customer sees. Both layers are stored permanently.
Example: A tech dictates "Front pads are down to 2mm, rotors have lip, recommend replace all." The system stores that verbatim AND generates: "Your front brake pads have worn to 2mm (minimum safe threshold is 3mm) and the rotors show significant wear. We recommend replacing both front brake pads and rotors to restore safe braking performance."
Living Health Document
Inspections are pre-populated from the vehicle's history. Items previously marked "monitor" are surfaced as hotspots. Measurements from prior visits appear as comparison chips. Over time, this becomes a persistent vehicle health record -- across visits, across techs, and (via Glovebox) across shops.
Five-Status Inspection Model
The binary approve/decline model conflates "customer refused" with "shop said not yet." myodo uses five statuses:
- Red (Immediate) -- Needs repair now. Safety risk or active failure.
- Orange (Soon) -- Recommend addressing at next visit. System follows up proactively.
- Yellow (Monitor) -- Watch until condition worsens. Re-evaluated each visit.
- Green (Good) -- No issues.
- Blue (Addressed) -- Already on this RO for repair.
Scan Tool Vision
Photograph any scan tool screen -- any brand, any generation. A vision model extracts fault codes and freeze frame data automatically and populates the diagnostic fields. No manual data entry from scan tool to computer.
Built-in Compliance
Using the system correctly produces compliant behavior. You can't close a repair order without tire pressures, can't skip Three Cs on diagnostic work, can't finalize without tech attribution. Every action is logged with timestamp, actor, and state snapshot -- giving shops a complete audit trail they can rely on in a dispute.
Shops buy for operations. They stay because myodo has their back.
AI Creates, Humans Audit
The system generates documents from historical data and real-time context. Humans audit and refine. Nothing is auto-committed. Inspections pre-populated from vehicle history. Estimates auto-built from tech findings. Customer narratives synthesized from tech notes. Service requests structured from phone calls.
Key Workflows
- Jobs in Shop -- Advisor workspace with expandable cards. Most daily actions without navigating away.
- Scheduling -- Calendar + service requests from 5 channels (portal, AI phone, message, walk-in, pipeline).
- Estimate Builder -- Build estimates from customer concerns or tech findings. AI maps customer language to vehicle systems.
- Diagnostic Workspace -- Structured Three Cs documentation with scan tool integration.
- Tech App -- Mobile-first for inspections, photos, dictation, quick data capture.
- Customer Portal -- Customers review health reports, approve/decline work, sign authorizations, book service.
- Dashboard -- KPIs, tech productivity, revenue, pipeline value, compliance status, natural language query interface.
Repair Intelligence Network
The moat. Every repair order on myodo automatically produces structured diagnostic intelligence. The tech doesn't know and doesn't do anything extra.
What It Does
The repair intelligence network aggregates structured diagnostic data from every shop on myodo into a searchable, verified knowledge base. The industry charges $200/month for crowdsourced fix data captured through voluntary technician contribution -- myodo captures the same data automatically from compliance.
Standalone Access ($99/mo)
Shops that don't use our SMS can subscribe to the repair intelligence network for $99/mo. This extends the network's reach, adds a second revenue stream, and creates a warm pipeline for eventual SMS adoption.
How It Works
Shops are legally required to document findings, causes, and corrections on every repair order. This is non-optional -- it's how shops protect themselves from liability. Legacy SMS platforms treat these as free-text fields with no structure, so the data is unqueryable noise. myodo structures that mandatory documentation with AI dictation, a vector taxonomy that semantically categorizes every finding, and linked chain visualization.
What Makes It Different
- Automatic capture -- No voluntary contribution, no separate system, no extra work
- Systematic verification -- Every diagnostic RO has a verification step confirming the fix resolved the original concern
- Failed diagnostic paths -- Captures what didn't work, not just what did. "87% of techs who saw P0420 on a 2017 Camry replaced the cat first, but 62% came back."
- Complete coverage -- Routine repairs and edge cases alike, not just unusual fixes techs bother to submit
- Semantic search -- "Car pulls to the right" matches "vehicle drifts right under braking." No keyword matching.
- Historical ingestion -- Import PDFs, exports from other platforms, scanned paper records. Intelligence on day one.
The Network Effect
A 5-tech shop completes ~30-50 repair orders per week. Each diagnostic RO produces a structured Concern-Cause-Correction-Verification record. At 50 shops: ~1,500-2,500 structured records per week. The network compounds with every shop added -- at scale, millions of verified repair outcomes.
Every shop that joins makes the network smarter. Switching means losing access to the intelligence your own data helped build.
Integrated Payment Processing
Stripe Connect + Terminal. Card payments from the repair order.
What It Does
Shops process card payments directly from the repair order -- no separate POS system, no separate merchant account, no manual reconciliation. This is a standard expectation of modern SMS platforms (Tekmetric and Shopmonkey both offer it). myodo uses Stripe Connect as the payments infrastructure, with Stripe Terminal hardware at the service counter for card-present transactions.
How It Works
Piston Labs is the platform on Stripe Connect. Each shop becomes a Connected Account. When a customer pays an invoice, the transaction routes through Stripe and myodo collects an application fee. The shop sees a single, reconciled payment record tied directly to the repair order.
Terminal Hardware
| Device | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WisePOS E | $249 | Countertop reader with touchscreen |
| BBPOS WisePad 3 | $59 | Mobile reader (Bluetooth) |
| S700 | $349 | Android-based smart terminal |
Rates
- Card-present (Terminal): 2.7% + $0.05 per transaction
- Card-not-present (online/invoice): 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
- Platform application fee: 0.5% per transaction (myodo's revenue)
Revenue Model
At 0.5% application fee on an estimated $50,000/month in card volume per shop (based on $1M average shop revenue at 60% card penetration), payment processing generates approximately $250/shop/month in platform revenue. Revenue scales linearly with shop count -- on top of SMS subscription revenue.
Glovebox
Consumer acquisition engine. Your car. Your records. Your choice.
What It Does
Glovebox is a digital service record that belongs to the consumer, not the shop. All your service history from every shop, in one place, tied to your VIN. Free to consumers.
How It Works
NFC-first experience. Shops onboard consumers during service visits -- the consumer taps an NFC sticker and accesses a web experience. No app download required. Records from myodo-connected shops appear automatically.
Tiered Access Based on Data Sensitivity
- No auth required: Service reminders, next oil change date, shop contact info, basic vehicle info
- Auth required: Invoices, payment history, PII, messages, documents
Account creation is prompted only when accessing protected content. Auth feels like security, not a barrier.
What Consumers Get
- Complete service history -- All records tied to your VIN, accessible forever, across every shop
- Proactive notifications -- Know what's coming before it breaks. Plan, budget, shop around.
- Data portability -- Your data follows you. Change shops, keep your history.
- No gatekeeping -- No Carfax subscription, no calling shops for records
- Photo uploads -- Snap old receipts, AI organizes them by service type, date, and cost
- You control your data -- Share with shops you choose. Revoke access anytime. Export everything. Delete permanently.
Evolution Path
NFC tag > web experience > native app > connected devices (OBD diagnostics, real-time alerts, push notifications)
For Shops: Why It Matters
Glovebox is the consumer acquisition engine. Every shop using myodo onboards consumers during service visits. Those consumers are now connected to the myodo network. When they need service, they book through the platform -- and the shop stays top-of-mind.
The real asset is the owned user base + vehicle data. Glovebox becomes the routing layer for all automotive needs -- shops, tire shops, alignment, detailing, glass, and more.

The myodo Device
For Fleet and connected consumer experiences.
What It Does
The myodo device plugs into your car's OBD-II port and tracks real mileage via cellular. It takes about 30 seconds to install -- just plug it into the port under your dashboard (every car made after 1996 has one). Once it's in, you can forget about it.
Privacy By Design
The device uses GPS to calculate distance, then immediately discards the location data. We know you drove 47 miles today. We don't know where you went. Consumer location data isn't stored by default. Fleet data is stored securely with access controls.
Specs
- Teltonika FMM00A hardware
- LTE Cat-M1 with Soracom multi-carrier SIM
- 10+ year device lifespan
- Works in any car from 1996 or newer
- Cellular connectivity included (no extra fees for consumers)
How It All Connects
The five products form a flywheel:
- SMS runs the shop and captures structured repair data
- Repair Intelligence Network aggregates that data into actionable intelligence that flows back to shops
- Integrated Payments adds transaction revenue on every card swipe, directly from the repair order
- Glovebox gives consumers ownership of their records, connecting them to the myodo network
- Fleet generates near-term revenue and proves the telemetry technology
Same backend. Same data model. Shared engineering. Every product feeds the others. Shops using the free Glovebox dashboard are warm leads for SMS. Fleet proves the technology. Consumer adoption is a byproduct of shop operations. The repair intelligence network grows with every shop and every repair order. Payments revenue scales linearly with shop count and requires no additional engineering per shop.
